Honey
If you want to have good honey, you need bees, woods and flowers—all things that are abundant in Abruzzo. With three National Parks and one Regional Park, more than 60% of regional territory is protected.
Thanks to this environmental policy, bee cultivation in Abruzzo produces a perfectly genuine honey. In order to do so, however, bees require constant care, 365 days a year.
In Abruzzo you can find very rare qualities of honey, like “sulla” and “lupinella.” Also, in recent years, an old tradition has been rediscovered, and the production of honey wine came back to life. “Ambrosia,” also known as “nectar of the gods,” is a quite pleasant wine that is the perfect drink to serve with local baked goods. |
